New Zealand

Police Clearance Certificates

The New Zealand reasons for Police Clearance Certificates are the same as those of Australia and Canada, to keep out criminals and those of dubious character

The New Zealand requirements for proof of good character and health are not unlike those of Australia and Canada. The same need for certificates of birth and marriage will require application to the appropriate authorities in your country of birth and marriage. New Zealand health requirements are set out in the Immigration Department's Operational Manual.

The links provided at the "Resources" tab on this site and the book "How to Retire in New Zealand" by Les Johns provide details on these matters. The book can be bought directly from this site.

Application Requirements

Again the Immigration Department specifies its needs in this respect at the web site page dealing with good character. Links from this page provide good advice with respect the obtaining of Police Clearance Certificates. This includes information on what to do if a particular police department will send certificates only to the Immigration Department itself. There is also provided help for cases where certificates cannot be obtained.

The web links provided at the "Resources" tab on this site and the information given in the book "How to Retire in New Zealand" by Les Johns will be of value and will save intending retirees much research time.
